REFERENCE GUIDE · CHECKED 2 OCTOBER 2026

App Store Screenshot Sizes

Choose the right App Store screenshot dimensions for iPhone and iPad. These portrait and landscape sizes come from Apple’s published specifications and use the same pixel presets as the AppFramey editor.

Create App Store screenshots

Which screenshot sets do you need?

For an iPhone app, a 6.5-inch set is required if you do not provide a 6.9-inch set. If your app also runs on iPad, Apple requires a 13-inch iPad set. You do not need to upload every resolution below: App Store Connect can scale larger sets for supported smaller display categories. Choose the categories that apply to your app and review their previews in App Store Connect.

For a straightforward starting point in AppFramey, choose 1320 × 2868 for a 6.9-inch iPhone portrait canvas, or 2064 × 2752 for a 13-inch iPad portrait canvas. These are accepted options, not the only allowed dimensions. Use actual screenshots of the corresponding phone or tablet experience.

File format, transparency and screenshot count

Apple accepts JPEG and PNG screenshots and allows one to ten screenshots per set. Images must not contain an alpha channel or transparency. AppFramey exports opaque RGB PNGs; its six-page collections give you a coordinated starting set, and you can add or remove frames.

A ZIP download is for keeping your exported images together. Extract the PNG files before uploading them to App Store Connect. A project backup is an editable AppFramey file and is not a store screenshot.

Portrait and landscape are separate choices

For modern display categories, the landscape dimensions are the portrait dimensions reversed. Legacy screenshots without a status bar are an exception, so use the exact preset rather than calculating a rotation yourself.

Changing the canvas dimensions does not automatically make every crop or headline look right. Check text wrapping, device placement and screen content in each version before exporting the final set.

Prepare your screenshots for App Store Connect

  1. Choose your supported device category and orientation.
  2. Open a template and select the corresponding output preset in the editor.
  3. Replace the demo content with real screenshots and accurate feature descriptions.
  4. Review every frame at the exported resolution, then download the PNGs.
  5. Upload the images into the correct device and language set in App Store Connect and inspect the resulting previews.

Correct dimensions are only part of submission. Your images must also meet Apple’s content requirements. AppFramey does not submit your app or guarantee approval.

Keeping this guide current

This page covers the iPhone and iPad formats supported by AppFramey. Other Apple platforms have their own requirements. Apple currently lists iPhone Duo dimensions but says uploads will be supported later in the year; those dimensions are not offered as accepted editor presets here.
